Organization for Moms

I had a great time on my Bizz Buzz Live radio segment today. So in celebration of Mom’s everywhere here are some tips for getting organized at home with shopping, menus and time management.

·       Mom’s often get caught up in having to do it all themselves. First of all look at the big picture. If you have small kids, just keeping everyone fed and dry is a challenge. Next remember that everyone can help, but first you have to ask and let them select age appropriate tasks.

·       It seems like grocery shopping is a huge source of stress for a lot of families. Always shop from a list and it’s easiest to organize your list by aisle. That saves you time and money so you don’t make impulse purchases.

·       “What’s for dinner?” is a common question that often leads to eating out or fast food. Consider the Pick One Meal Plan: pick one each of protein, veggie, startch and sauce (Italian, BBQ, Teriyaki or Mexican). If you keep a jar of each type of sauce in the pantry then it’s easy to mix and match.

·       With everyone coming and going these days, how can you keep track of everyone in the household? Use a Family Calendar with different colored dots to highlight events for each person. That way no one gets left stranded after the big soccer game.

·       Finally, make sure to take time for yourself. Take care of yourself to be able to have some reserves to take care of your family. 15 minutes of quality “me” time does wonders.
